Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Administration while working in conjunction with Cornell Shared Services Center and school finance staff provide research administration financial and accounting support for the School of the Environment and Sustainable Development. As a provider of financial services to the school and in conjunction with the Director of Administration make appropriate judgments about financial activities in a manner that coincides with university policies as they relate to account management grant and contract management sponsored project accountability college reporting accountability for funds management and backup proposal support. Specifically within the school assist with the establishment monitoring and projection of annual school budgets establish monitor and report on unrestricted gift and endowment accounts.

Provide postaward sponsored research administration including oversight to the set up and close out of accounts salary planning and monitoring of effort distribution cost share and subcontracts compliance with sponsor and university policies liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and Sponsored Financial Services (SFS). Establish close working relationship(s) with the finance staff faculty and administrative staff. Work within a team environment to provide the most efficient and streamlined processes for the school and the college. Obtain sponsored programs research administration certificate training and stay updated on changes in university policies and procedures as they relate to financial processes. Work in partnership with Graduate Field Assistants (GFA) to track graduate student funding and appointments. In conjunction with Director of Administration and Chairs Assistants confirm funding source for appointments and extensions of academic nonacademic and temporary staff. Identify and recommend college best practice and processed. Actively pursue continuous learning and specialized training in key functional areas to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

This is a fulltime 39 hours/week position.

The position requires a 4 day on campus presence with flexibility for virtual one day per week subject to change based upon business needs and college policy.
