Job Description

Position Title: Residential Monitor and Security

Program: Emergency/Bridge/Temporary/Harm Reduction Shelters

Reports to: Monitor/Security Supervisor and Manager

FLSA Status: NonExempt

Pay Range: $19 $22 an hour commensurate with experience


POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Monitor/Security Supervisor and Manager the Residential Monitor and Security will maintain a secure facility and monitor activities in surrounding neighborhoods. They will assist with the daytoday operations and ensure the safety and comfort of clients employees volunteers and visitors. The Residential Monitor and Security will work collaboratively with residents staff providers and guests to deescalate confrontations as well as create opportunities and enhancements to the Emergency/Bridge Shelter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Monitoring
Assess participant needs at admission and exit of program;
Assist residents with requests/needs including accessing supplies clothing food etc.;
Document and report incidents and daily activities as instructed;
Assist clients with special needs as needed (disabled/seniors);
Collaborate with outside agencies; and
Make proper referrals to available resources and services.

Safety
Ensure all participants and visitors are checking in and out of the facility;
Document in the daily log during each shift;
Provide security and safety both onsite and in the neighboring communities;
Work collaboratively with the PD and HOT/PERT teams;
Document and report incidents and daily activities as instructed;
Conduct fire and safety checks on a regular basis;
Maintain a secure and safe environment for all participants; and
Resolve conflicts among participants professionally and efficiently.

Operations
Janitorial and laundry services;
Communicate and adhere to program and shelter policies and procedures and model professional rapport with all staff clients and partners in accordance with the Operations Manual;
Maintain confidentiality for all participants; and
Interact and work cooperatively with participants service providers and staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS
Team Members must demonstrate the ability to follow policies and procedures as established in the Companys Employee Handbook. Team Members will also contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner such that they get along with all constituent groups coworkers and management.

In addition the education experience and other skills listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of a combined two 2 years of lived experience and at least one 1 year of practical job experience; and
Three 3 years experience working with people target population preferred.

CERTIFICATION
CPR and First Aid and NARCAN certification preferred.

KEY SKILLS SET
Ability to communicate in person and over the phone required;
Strong written and verbal communication skills required;
Understanding confidentiality protocols and protecting personal information required;
Ability to organize and prioritize projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner required;
Effectively problemsolve and maintain composure in highpressure situations required;
Act as liaison with partner agencies;
Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision required;
Knowledge of all applicable Federal State and local laws codes regulations and departmental policies and procedures;
Experience with theory principles and practices of homeless housing interventions social services case management eviction prevention shelter diversion and crisis intervention;
Knowledge of used practices and principals including Housing First TraumaInformed Care Conflict Resolution Motivational Interviewing Low Barrier Operations and Prevention and Diversion preferred; and
Bilingual speakers of any language preferred.


EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
Proficiency in MS Office including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint preferred;
Working knowledge of all standard office equipment; and
Experience with principles and practices of data collection HMIS and Clarity experience preferred.
