Job Description

The Ankeny Community School District (CSD) enjoys a reputation as one of the premier school districts in Iowa and the Midwest with students staff and parents unified in their efforts to excel in academics athletics the arts and activities. Located in the heart of Iowa Ankeny is just 6 miles from the capital city of Des Moines The District serves over 12600 PK12 students. Technology Intern

Purpose Statement

This Internship offers high school or college students an opportunity to gain handson experience in educational technology support and systems management. Interns will work closely with the K12 Technology Department to assist with troubleshooting device management classroom technology and other ITrelated tasks to support teaching and learning.

Job Title: Technology Intern

Position Type: Temporary Parttime Paid Internship

Hourly Wage: $15.00/hr.

Employment Term: Summer Internship

Reports To: Director of Technology

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelors degree (or working towards) in Information Technology (IT) Computer Science Information Systems Cybersecurity Network Administration or related field preferred.
  • Interest in technology computer science or ITrelated fields.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable organized and detailoriented.

Essential Functions

  • Provide basic technical support for students and staff (e.g. password resets device setup).
  • Assist with inventory management of devices accessories and other tech equipment.
  • Support deployment maintenance and repair of student and staff devices (Chromebooks iPads laptops).
  • Help set up technology for classrooms events and professional development sessions.
  • Learn and assist with software tools commonly used in K12 environments (e.g. Google Workspace for Education learning management systems).
  • Participate in summer tech refresh activities (if applicable): reimaging devices labeling and organizing tech supplies.
  • Shadow technology team members to learn about district infrastructure cybersecurity practices and helpdesk support systems.
  • Maintain documentation and update tech guides as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the technology team.



Working Environment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing reaching driving standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress.
