Job Description

EPS K5 Title I Summer Acceleration Elementary Instructional Coach


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Title I Summer Acceleration Academy provides structured
academic programming in ELA and Math for students in grades K5 during the summer.
Students will receive instruction on gradelevel topics in ELA and Math. The program will be free
and held at the Parlin Madeline English Keverian and Lafayette from 7:45 AM12:30 PM. The
Acceleration Academy is funded through Title I and will serve students identified as most atrisk
through the midyear and endyear ELA and math data.
Program teachers will participate in professional development before the beginning of the
program on implementing small group reading instruction. Teachers will participate in ongoing
coaching throughout the program on the implementation of the strategies including one hour a
week meeting to discuss the implementation of small group reading practices.

WORKING TIMES:


28 Days of summer school (July 13 and July 7August 8 2025
MondayFriday 7:45 a.m. 12:30 p.m.
Every Wednesday 12:301:30 PM program meeting
30 additional hours for lesson planning and curriculum development
Required training dates June 17 and June 18th 8 AM3:00 PM (Dates tentative based on
last day of school)


REMUNERATION:

$40/hour total stipend up to a total maximum stipend of $7280


Number of Openings:

up to 4 instructional coaches


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Plan and facilitate lessons for inperson learning that are aligned with DESE Standards
in ELA and math.
Use best practices in ELA and math curriculums that encourage higherorder thinking
critical thinking and collaboration.
Model differentiating instruction for and strategies that are content and activityspecific to
increase studentcentered instruction districtwide.
Conduct observation/feedback cycles with Teachers to improve Tier 1 instruction and
highleverage lesson planning practices.
Consult with teachers to scaffold highleverage categories of learning including but not
limited to: increasing reading and writing with gradelevel standards reading
comprehension strategies for gradelevel text and increasing opportunities in class for
sustained speaking activities and academic discourse.
Compliment the schoolbased and districtwide instructional foci and professional
development by integrating coaching throughout the program to amplify these initiatives.
Consult with Teachers to evaluate formative and summative assessments in order to
gauge student progress in content classes and identify areas that need additional
scaffolding and/or reteaching.

Consult with Teachers to plan lessons using researchbased resources such as the
WIDA frameworks to create differentiated language objectives and appropriate scaffolds.
Model lessons for departments and individual Teachers that focus on developing
students higherorder thinking skills and complex tasks.
Facilitate and manage shared resources for each content area that are Teachercreated
and can be universal in multiple classes such as anchor charts sentence frames
revising and editing procedures and oral presentation rubrics.
Contribute to schoolwide Summer School initiatives and events which may be assigned
by the Principal Assistant Principal and/or Summer School Site Coordinator.


REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelors Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts
Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Elementary Education Middle School Early
Childhood Special Education English as a Second Language or related fields including
Administrative Areas.
SEI Endorsement
Current EPS employee in good standing with at least 3 years of experience in a public
school setting.


PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:


Masters Degree in Education
3 or more years of elementary or middle school teaching experience
Current EPS employee in good standing
Dual Licensure and/or relevant experience in Special Education and/or English as a
Second Language
Previous experience working in Extended Learning programs after school before
school summer learning Acceleration Academies coaching tutoring etc.
Coursework in Foundational Literacy Instruction and/or Applied Linguistics
Foreign Language Proficiency
