Description / Position Overview

Records & ID Employees Only Records Training Specialist (Sr Business Support Specialist)

In this position you will coordinate and oversee all materials and activities related to the new hire training continuous education and certification compliance for the Records section.

You must be a current City of Colorado Springs (City) municipal employee who works in the Records & ID department to be considered for this position.

As a Training Specialist in Records & ID you will:
  • Develops updates and maintains course curriculum training materials and provides training by teaching courses; creating training materials; and developing procedure protocols.
  • Teach new hire employees in a classroom setting in record processing record release and fingerprint operations.
  • Facilitate and conduct monthly and quarterly inservice training.
  • Maintains proficiency in all skills and duties by working in the roles trained and maintaining all required certifications.
  • Maintaining electronic training files providing documentation for reaccreditation by proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word to create spreadsheets; and gathering information and recording it accurately.
  • Supervises and mentors the daily activities of newly hired personnel; overseeing all aspects of their training; and discussing concerns with employees.
  • Assists as required by other departments and regional partners in providing record systems and applications training.
  • Assist the CSPD Applications Support Unit in all required testing of system upgrades and fixes.
  • When not actively engaged in training provide quality audit checks of the completed work of staff in the Records Section in order to provide feedback on performance.
  • Oversee the Record Sections compliance with all CALEA Standards.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of modern office technology and supporting software
  • Knowledge of records policies procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal state and local codes laws and regulations
  • Ability to mentor daily activities of newly hired employees
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Minimum Qualifications

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

You must be a current City of Colorado Springs (City) municipal employee who works in the Records & ID department to be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Information

This is a shift position that may require the ability to work varied hours and days in a 24/7 closed and secured environment. The ability to work overtime exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently and sit walk or stand to a significant degree is also required.
