Summary:The Old Town School of Folk Music seeks a parttime experienced and enthusiastic hip hop dance instructor for Adult dance programs.
Schedule:Mostly evening and weekends but varies
Location:Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to various skill levels ensuring safe and supportive environments for all participants.
Monitor and assess individual students progress providing personalized feedback and adjustments to improve technique and performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Dance or related field preferred
Minimum of two years of teaching experience across various dance disciplines catering to beginners through advanced levels
Proficient in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based pedagogy and contemporary teaching methodologies
Strong choreography skills technical proficiency and a commitment to ensuring safe movement practices required
Expertise in hip hop and at least two other dance forms including but not limited to jazz breakdance required.
Previous performance experience is helpful
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students and parents
Flexibility to teach at both our Lincoln Park and Armitage locations
Availability for evening and weekend classes

Chicagos Old Town School of Folk Music (OTSFM) is the largest community school of the arts in the U.S. and a nonprofit organization committed to celebrating American music and global cultures. Founded in 1957 Old Town School provides a wide range of music dance and arts courses to people of all ages abilities and backgrounds. Whatever ones interest Old Town School provides broad access to more than 700 weekly class offerings a broad array of private lessons and over 400 concerts and community events per year.
Old Town School of Folk Music opened its Lincoln Square facility in 1998 and expanded in 2012. The Old Town School operates two campuses located in Chicagos Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park neighborhoods that include worldclass concert halls classrooms an awardwinning music store and a music resource center. Online classes were introduced in 2020 and students from nearly every state and a dozen countries participated over the course of the pandemic.
