Job Description

Summer School Teachers

Burlington High School

Burlington High School is currently seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to join our team as High School Summer School Teachers. This program is designed for rising 10th graders seeking credit recovery (i.e. pursuing additional review and reteaching of 9th grade core proficiencies). This is a temporary position for the duration of the summer term with student attendance from 8:3011:30 each day with additional paid planning time available. Classes will be synchronous and inperson on our campus.

Duration: Summer 4 weeks): July 7 August 1 2025

Subjects:

  1. English Language Arts: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English

literature grammar and writing. They will be responsible for delivering engaging and

interactive lessons facilitating discussions and assessing student progress toward skills mastery.

  1. Science: We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate science teacher to lead classes in Earth Systems Science. The candidate should be wellversed in natural science and capable of delivering handson experiments and demonstrations.
  2. Social Studies: The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of

history geography and civics. They will guide students through discussions on important

social and political issues promote critical thinking and facilitate projects related to the

subject matter.

  1. Math: Seeking a skilled math teacher with expertise across various levels. Responsibilities

include designing engaging lessons fostering a supportive environment and assessing student progress on core skills effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver effective lesson plans that align with the curriculum and standards

for the respective subject.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement

and active participation.

  • Employ various instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and

abilities.

  • Assess and evaluate student progress toward gradelevel content area proficiencies provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to ensure continuity of curriculum and

student support.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance and

progress.

  • Adhere to school policies procedures and code of conduct.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Education or a relevant subject area.

Valid teaching certification/license in the subject area(s) applying for.

Previous teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of the subject matter and ability to effectively deliver content to

students.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom.

Certification/Endorsement:

High school licensure in the content area for which you are applying.

At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.

Bachelor degree preferred.

Citizenship residency or work visa required
