Job Description

TITLE:Diesel Technology Assistant

LOCATION: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)

REPORTS TO: InstructorDirector

DEPARTMENT:Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)

Hours / Work Times

7 Hours Per Day 7:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

190 Days Per Year 180 Student Days/10 Holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 04/23/25.

This position is expected to begin August 26 2025

Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:

  1. Be at least eighteen 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;AND
  2. Must meet one or more of the following:
  • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);or
  • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;or
  • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

*If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.

Upon hire new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and Program Administrator the instructional assistant is responsible to assist in directing the activities of students in the heavy duty diesel trade in small and medium sized groups as well as assist with problem solving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the program instructors in supervising and working with students in the heavy truck/equipment diesel trade as follows:

  1. Communicate effectively with students staff and the general public.
  2. Assist in providing group instruction to students.
  3. Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  4. Assist in evaluating and specifying direction of instruction so as to maximize each students potential.
  5. Maintain accurate data on student progress.
  6. Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
  7. Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the teacher.
  8. Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials.
  9. Perform First Aid/CPR when necessary.
  10. Attend various training sessions as necessary so as to maintain an uptodate understanding of the heavy duty/diesel trade.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Transport students as necessary.
  2. Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

IBM/PC (clone) telephone typewriter copy machines all common tools used in the diesel trade and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic typing/keyboarding.
  2. AA degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent experience.
  3. Familiarity with common tools used in the diesel trade preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and possess a positive attitude.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise high school students.
  6. Demonstrated ability to operate the tools and equipment as listed above.
  7. Demonstrated ability to perform under conditions of constant interruption.
  8. Must possess organizational skills and the ability to follow through.
  9. Must be able to handle management of several ongoing and concurrent projects.
  10. Must possess a current valid motor vehicle license.
  11. Must be able to be insured through the Districts insurance carrier.
  12. Willingness to complete an Elements of teaching course.
  13. Willingness to complete a Responsible Decision Making class
  14. Must qualify for and be willing to obtain a Type II Drivers License.
  15. Must possess a current First Aid/CPR card or be able to acquire within 45 days of employment.
  16. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  17. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
