Business Information:

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600 skilled engineers who focus on tendering engineering planning procurement project Management functional system testing installation supervision documentation and commissioning.

Mission Statement :

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design development and optimization of mechanical components and systems for tap changers used in transformers. Mechanical design Engineer will be reporting to team manager of INOPC PGTR Engineering & Technology team

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical systems and components for onload tap changers ensuring efficiency reliability and manufacturability.

  • Create detailed 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software Creo. Ensure the accuracy and manufacturability of designs by developing comprehensive technical drawings.

  • Organize and maintain CAD files ensuring that design versions are controlled and technical documentation is uptodate and easily accessible by other team members.

  • Identify areas for design improvements focusing on performance reliability cost and manufacturability

  • Work closely with Design & Development teams manufacturing teams and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs

  • Ensure that designs meet industry standards such as IEC and apply Global Positioning System standards where application in the design and functionality of Tap Changers

  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues in existing designs and fielddeployed systems providing solutions to improve functionality and reliability.

Your Background:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering/electrical engineering or related field with 36 years of experience

  • Experience in mechanical design preferably in the Tap changer/Transformer or Power Industry

  • Hands on experience in using GPS standards

  • Strong understanding of standards relevant to Transformer industry/products.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling tool Creo Parametric

  • Exposure to the use of PLM (Windchill)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams and communicate technical/nottechnical information.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fastpaced environment adapting to changing requirements as needed.
