This position at Pfizer entails delivering legal counsel pertaining to company communications public affairs initiatives and policy matters on a wide range of issues with a focus on formulating legal policy strategies. Key responsibilities include assessing legislation and regulations offering legal guidance to stakeholders managing external counsel negotiating agreements and actively engaging in legal risk management and advocacy initiatives. Close collaboration with the broader Legal Division is essential to ensure a cohesive approach to matters affecting Pfizers Corporate Affairs division while also monitoring evolving legal and policy trends. The role involves representing Pfizer within industry trade associations and external stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with the Corporate Affairs Division and other business units to provide legal support and ensure alignment with Pfizers strategic goals.

  • Offer legal counsel on corporate communications including executive leader communications on a broad range of issues

  • Collaborate with the Office of the CEO to provide legal guidance on external engagements.

  • Provide legal support for the Pfizer School of Science.

  • Provide legal guidance for Pfizers advocacy efforts at the local state national and international levels. You will be responsible for providing legal advice on a wide range of policy issues related to for example healthcare innovation R&D pricing regulatory intellectual property (IP) market access and competition

  • Provide direct legal support to the business policy & public affairs team on a wide range of policy issues and public affairs initiatives.

  • In partnership with relevant Pfizer teams develop a proactive global policy strategy on a range of issues including IP; support global markets with policy advocacy and initiatives.

  • Analyze and interpret laws regulations and policies related to the pharmaceutical industry and provide actionable advice to stakeholders.

  • Review Corporate Affairs funding contribution requests and negotiate charitable contribution and sponsorship agreements.

  • Monitor and analyze emerging legal and policy trends and issues that could impact Pfizers business on a wide range of policy issue.

  • Represent Pfizer in interactions with government officials industry groups multilateral organizations and other external stakeholders.

  • Establish and nurture relationships and networks with key stakeholders to drive legal policy initiatives on a global scale.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of training programs on legal policy issues for internal stakeholders.

  • Develop relationships and collaborate with other members of the Legal Division to provide comprehensive and coordinated legal input for policy and public affairs initiatives.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Pfizers legal policy function by developing and implementing best practices.

  • Hold the responsibility to manage external counsel and other service providers to ensure quality costeffective legal support.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Pfizers legal risk management strategies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a legal role preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Experience supporting corporate/enterprisewide communications including executive leader communications on high profile issues.

  • Demonstrated ability providing legal guidance on enterprisewide communication strategies.

  • Proven understanding of and experience advising on advertising and promotion regulations.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and its regulatory environment including knowledge and understanding of the regulatory procedures for vaccines and therapeutics.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers develop and coach others oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • General understanding of education law.

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.

  • Possess excellent legal research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations.

  • Proven experience in policy development and implementation.

  • Exhibit strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism with a commitment to ethical practices.

  • Ability to lead and work effectively within a highly matrixed environment.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219800.00 to $366400.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0 of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
