Job Description
- Provide direct instruction to students with moderate/severe disabilities in a selfcontained classroom setting.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP team members.
- Utilize evidencebased instructional strategies to meet the academic functional and behavioral needs of each student.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate a variety of learning styles and disabilities.
- Integrate assistive technology visual supports and alternative communication methods as needed.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior intervention supports (PBIS) and datadriven behavior plans.
- Maintain regular communication with families service providers and support staff.
- Collaborate with general education teachers specialists and aides to support inclusive practices and transitions.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws including timelines for assessments and documentation.
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential Moderate/Severe Disabilities authorization.
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (Masters preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of IEP development special education law and best practices for teaching students with significant support needs.
- Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
