Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction to students with moderate/severe disabilities in a selfcontained classroom setting.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP team members.
  • Utilize evidencebased instructional strategies to meet the academic functional and behavioral needs of each student.
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate a variety of learning styles and disabilities.
  • Integrate assistive technology visual supports and alternative communication methods as needed.
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior intervention supports (PBIS) and datadriven behavior plans.
  • Maintain regular communication with families service providers and support staff.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers specialists and aides to support inclusive practices and transitions.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws including timelines for assessments and documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential Moderate/Severe Disabilities authorization.
  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (Masters preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IEP development special education law and best practices for teaching students with significant support needs.
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
