Job Description

The District Online Learning Coordinator provides leadership coordination and support foronline learning options across the district for grades K12. This position is primarilyresponsible for managing secondary credit recovery online elective course enrollment andhomebound instruction through digital platforms. The coordinator ensures students haveequitable access to highquality online learning opportunities and provides oversight andsupport for students families and staff engaged in virtual begins August 2025.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Oregon teaching license
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Experience with online learning platforms (e.g. Edgenuity FuelEd etc. preferred
  • Experience working in a K12 educational setting particularly with atrisk or creditdeficient students preferred
  • Knowledge of secondary graduation requirements credit recovery pathways andstudent support models preferred

REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Education


Performance Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor all K12 online learning programs with a primary focus on grades 612 credit recovery online electives and homebound learning.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders related to online education services.
  • Ensure alignment of online coursework with district curriculum graduation requirements and state standards.
  • Maintain partnerships with external online content providers and learning platforms.
  • Enroll students in appropriate online courses based on academic need graduation plans and administrator/teacher recommendations.
  • Monitor student progress attendance and course completion; intervene when students are not making adequate progress.
  • Communicate regularly with students families school counselors and building administrators regarding expectations progress and support needs.
  • Provide support to students requiring homebound instruction due to medical or other qualifying circumstances.
  • Work collaboratively with school counselors and building administrators to identify and
    place students in appropriate online courses.
  • Coordinate with teachers of record and support staff to ensure accommodations and
    modifications are applied as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between online providers and school staff to troubleshoot technical or
    instructional issues.
  • Maintain accurate student records related to online course enrollment progress and
    completion.
  • Track and report participation and success metrics to district leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal state and district policies regarding virtual
    instruction special education and attendance.
  • Support students and families in accessing and navigating online platforms and digital
    tools.
  • Collaborate with the district IT department to ensure platform accessibility and resolve
    technical issues.

About the District:

The Hermiston School District is the largest district in Eastern Oregon exceeding 5600 students and continues to experience steady enrollment growth. It serves students in grades kindergarten through 12 with a broad range of programs from foundational learning skills to comprehensive vocational programs to an exhaustive array of postsecondary college credit bearing opportunities. The school district includes a 912 senior high school two 68 middle schools five K5 elementary schools and a robust online learning program option for students and families.

Support for the school district has been strong from the community. In 2001 voters approved a $39 million building program which included the reconstruction of the high school an additional elementary school and various districtwide renovations. The voters also approved a $69.9 million bond in 2008. The bond served to replace Armand Larive Middle School West Park Elementary and Sunset Elementary.

The District employs over 550 full time staff that includes approximately 300 teachers and over 200 classified support and supervisory personnel making it one of the largest employers in the city of Hermiston. A nationallyrecognized community that embraces its diversity the district serves some 30000 residents where onethird of the population is Hispanic.

The school district prides itself on the academic achievement of its students successful athletic programs nationallyrecognized club and activity organizations and its exhaustive list of academic and elective opportunities available to students. The Districts partnership with community organizations has been central to its continued success highlighted by support groups who have provided nearly a half a million dollars to assist students and programs through such venues as the Hermiston Sports Booster Club Hermiston Education Foundation Band Boosters FFA Alumni and the community sponsorship of the student homebuilding program to name a few.

About the Community:

The largest city in eastern Oregon Hermiston maintains over 18000 residents and is located in northeastern Oregon just south of the OregonWashington border. The Hermiston School District boundary encompasses over 150 square miles of the Columbia Basin region whose unique geographical area offers an extended growing season and a variety of agricultural crops and products. The immediate Hermiston area has been able to diversify its economy with food processing cold storage warehousing and distribution facilities. In addition Hermistons close proximity to the Columbia River Gorge and the surrounding Blue Mountains make it an ideal place for outdoor activities and one of the fastest growing and economically charged communities in all of Oregon.
