Ozzies Playful Computing Camp is a unique opportunity for educators to gain experience teaching an innovative coding curriculum in collaboration with aUNFCamp Counselor onhand for additional support. Lead Teachers will work with a small cohort of elementary students (grades 12 or 35th) on Scratch Coding and relatedSTEMlearning experiences.

This curriculum is already prepared ageappropriate and fun. Lead Teachers will be responsible for assisting with all transitions morning setup and afternoon clean up organizing enrichment activities mentoring yourUNFCamp Counselor leading all classroom instruction and lesson facilitation that explores topics in engineering/ design thinking computer coding robotics and drones. And lets not forget play!

Ozzies Playful Computing Camp will run for 3 weeks in June and includes paid training orientation and classroom set up with your assignedUNFCamp Counselor for support.

  • Position starts May 4 2025. Actual start date is dependent on candidate availability. 9:004:30pm): Paid mandatory training and orientation.
  • Compensation is $30.00 per hour.
  • Camp dates are:
    • Week 1: June 913 9:003:00 pm)
    • Week 2: June 1620 9:003:00 pm)
    • Week 3: June 2327 9:003:00 pm)


Required:

  • Proven experienced classroom educator
  • Proficiency in Scratch and Blockly coding platforms (can complete selfpaced online tutorials)
  • Collaborative and congenial orientation
  • Aptitude to learn on the job from coworkers and supervisors
  • Ability to maintain patience and positive attitude when working with students
  • Pass background check upon job offer and get fingerprinted (NEFSTEM Sumer Camps will pay the cost of background check and fingerprinting)
  • Cannot be a current UNF student for this position type.

Preferred:

  • Relatively recent completion of Express Course
  • Experience facilitating coding lessons using Scratch Blockly or a similar platform with elementary students
  • Strong STEM academic background
  • Demonstrated positive experience working with children in educational settings
