Job Description

Penguin Random House is seeking an Inventory Manager to join ourteam in Publishing Operations. In this role you will be reporting to the Director of the Penguin Publishing inventory management group. You will be responsible for the effective management and optimization of the inventory for a portion of the Penguin Publishing Group imprints and will be accountable for the performance associated with that list including the fill rate inventory turns and excess metrics. As Inventory Manager you will be an integral part of the inner workings of supply chain interacting daily with Sales Production Customer Service Managing Editorial and the Warehouse.

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluate backlist and frontlist sales activity on a title level basis to ensure seamless and optimized supply flow
  2. Create production orders and maintain title notes for reprint and component orders in collaboration with Production and Managing Editorial
  3. Determine first print run quantities on soon to be released titles through the analysis of relevant metrics
  4. Track workinprogress in relation to the latest sales information for proper prioritization of job date adjustment of quantity or the need for potential cancellation
  5. Communicate latest production schedules on hot titles with stakeholders in Sales and Publishing
  6. Lead virtual reprint meetings by creating the agenda and presenting your reprint recommendations for Publisher approval
  7. Perform indepth finished good and component inventory analysis to make recommendations regarding excess and obsolete inventory disposition
  8. Review digital print titles for movement into and out of print on demand programs
  9. Produce and maintain instructions for our vendor and warehouse partners for signed and special editions
  10. Liaise with order fulfillment and distribution partners to address customer queries product quality concerns and receiving issues related to the timely receipt of books
  11. Track preorders against account estimates to ensure first print quantities align with projected demand

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 plus years of publishing experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Inventory Management Sales or Finance preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills; facility with numbers and data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a deadline driven working environment
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and proactively and creatively problem solve
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SAP; Power BI a plus but not required

This role will be open to remote.

The salary for this position is $81000.00 All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus subject to Company results.
