Job Description

The marketing team at Ballantine Bantam Dell is seeking an experienced creative detailoriented and strategic marketer to join our innovative team as Assistant Director of Marketing. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and includes managing a direct report. This position oversees marketing campaigns for bestselling authors with major multichannel platforms and ambitious sales goals in both the fiction and nonfiction categories.

Ballantine is renowned by readers as the goto publisher for commercial fiction across contemporary fiction mystery/thriller historical fiction romance as well as thoughtprovoking and narrative nonfiction. We are proud to publish a wideranging list of bestselling authors including Jodi Picoult Ashley Flowers Charmaine Wilkerson Katy Hays and Andy Weiras well as newly established novels like Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors.

We are looking for an experienced title marketer and a passionate reader with a genuine interest in fiction (including fantasy speculative fiction suspense historical and book club picks) and platformdriven nonfiction.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manages an associate marketing manager
  • Individually leads marketing efforts on 610 priority titles per season including: consumer outreach preorder campaigns author platform development influencer marketing advertising and overall creative strategy
  • Works alongside the marketing director to oversee the Ballantine list identifying programmatic title marketing and brandbuilding opportunities
  • Manages multiple highlevel marketing projects with varying timelines
  • Work closely across departments with editorial publicity sales and creative services (including social media email marketing design copy media buyers)
  • Synthesizes best practices from past campaign learnings and develop new marketing resources tools and strategies for future campaigns.
  • Researches and explores new marketing tools platforms and strategies and identify ways to harness current marketplace trends.

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years prior experience in trade book marketing including creating and executing marketing campaigns for a variety of titles
  • Creative and detailoriented thinker with the ability to demonstrate with examples the of successful marketing campaigns from strategy through endproduct
  • Excellent copywriting and communication skills with the ability to present in fluent English with top authors and key stakeholders
  • Experience in key marketing strategies and tools including email social media digital advertising and influencer marketing
  • Proficiency in analyzing sales consumer insights and other key marketing metrics
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask prioritize meet deadlines and thrive in a fastpaced working environment
  • Collaborative curious reader detailoriented proactive

The salary range for this position is $85000$95000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus subject to Company results.

This hybrid position has occasional inoffice responsibilities including but not limited to inoffice meetings author visits or events and daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway which includes the tristate area (NJ CT & PA).
