Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager Employee Relations with Hines you will be responsible for partnering with the entire Employee Relations (ER) Department overseeing and executing the daytoday administration of performance management activities related HR policies providing coaching and guidance to managers measuring employee satisfaction and partnering with leadership and HR to develop and implement related programs. Additionally the Senior Manager Employee Relations will participate in negotiating union labor agreements and associated disputes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build relationships with all employees to foster a more open and communicative environment and provide support to all employees.
  • Partners with various functions within Human Resources (i.e. Learning and Development Compensation HRIS/Payroll Diversity Equity & Inclusion) to execute businessspecific HR strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment encouraging open communication and teamwork with direct report(s) through regular oneonone meetings career development plans and constructive feedback.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and provides coaching and guidance to management.
  • Provides counsel and direction that promotes consistent and fair administration of employee corrective and disciplinary actions throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Supports learning initiatives including content development material preparation and/or facilitation of training on relevant subject matter (i.e. performance management workplace harassment etc..
  • Drafts reviews and updates ER and HRrelated policies procedures and other employee communications and makes suggestions for process improvements when needed.
  • Designs plans and implements Employee Relations programs surveys and other measures to promote and enhance employee satisfaction.
  • Provides expertise on eligibility requirements under the Hines severance policy and acts as a good steward of Hines severance fund. Drafts agreements and executes necessary steps to ensure timely payment.
  • Conducts internal investigations as appropriate involving workplace conflicts or allegations of policy violations; works to ensure issues are properly identified reported investigated and resolved. Partners with legal counsel to prepare for necessary mediations arbitration and production of documents for legal proceedings.
  • Assists with internal ad hoc reporting with respect to employment trends and demographics.
  • Stays abreast of employment terms governing the employees and managers they support (i.e. Union Collective Bargaining Agreements company policies and unique requirements of major clients such as Morgan Stanley).
  • Stays abreast of new developments current legal trends and new or changed state and federal laws and regulations impacting employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business or related field required from an accredited institution.
  • Ten or more years experience providing Human Resources Generalist support in a professional environment.
  • Multistate and international employer experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment law.
  • Strong problemsolving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Extensive experience in conducting investigations and managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Ability to use good judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Analyzes and interpret various types of data to draw conclusions and solve problems.
  • Exercises a strong customer service orientation sense of urgency ability to anticipate internal and external customer needs and acts accordingly.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to establish priorities and manage deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Takes initiative and follows through to completion on all areas of responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to demonstrate high performance standards.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Composes business letters reports using proper format punctuation grammar diction and style.
  • Work indoors approximately 100 of the time.
  • Operate a computer phone system and general office equipment.
  • Ability to lift files records and computer paper (approximately 510lbs).
  • Work over 40 hours per week as business needs deem appropriate.
