Senior Accounts Receivable Officer

  • Employment Type: Full Time 35 hours per week)
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: Level 6 $100354 $107054 (depending on experience) 17 super leave loading
  • Location: Kensington NSW (hybrid)

Why your Role Matters:

The Operational Finance function is accountable for Finance Systems RunGrowTransform process and system change and Operations including Finance Support Services Help Desk Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Operational Finances key objectives are to support UNSW with core system and transactional (operational and general accounting) activities and work towards standardised processes with continual improvements in systems and process to support UNSW financial management integrity and strategy.

The role of the Senior Accounts Receivable Officer provides daytoday receivables activity such as customer creation and amendments management of debtors aging collection of debts credit note processing and the implementation of standardised Accounts Receivable processes to ensure the efficient and effective completion of operational functions in accordance with UNSW policies and procedures.

The role of Senior Accounts Receivable Officer reports to the Accounts Receivable Team Lead and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete day to day financial tasks and other transactional processes including data entry debt management and collection cash receipting and bank reconciliation ensuring relevant compliance and controls are followed in accordance with financial policies procedures and best practice.
  • Provide coverage for the Accounts Receivable Team Lead and act as back up in the team leads absence.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members to ensure key operational functions and finance transactions are performed accurately and to a high standard for all stakeholders.
  • Process credit notes and receipt revenue in accordance with AR procedures using relevant systems for recording student and sundry debtors ensuring alignment in general ledger.
  • Produce the team analytical reports for Key Performance Indicators and monitoring of aged receivables.
  • Liaise and collaborate with IT/system teams to ensure any receipting channels are set up and working effectively in the endtoend receivables process as required.
  • Perform accounting duties including monthend processing journals and generating system reports such as monthly Aged Trial Balance.
  • Support the implementation of and embed continuous improvement of Finance processes.
  • Work collaboratively across the team to share workloads and respond to peaks in demand across operational Finance.
  • Provide efficient and effective customer service.
  • Foster collaborative and productive working relationships with colleagues.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or subsequent relevant professional sector experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience. Progressing towards a CA or CPA qualification is desirable.
  • Prior work experience and demonstrated success in the Accounts Receivable function within a large and complex corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial management and controls and experience in interpreting and applying policy and guidelines and effectively communicating financial information.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and its application in financial analysis and experience in Enterprise financial systems (e.g. PeopleSoft).
  • Leadership experience with demonstrated capability to mentor develop and motivate the team.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service managing customer expectations and appropriately responding to customer needs.
  • Critical attention to detail.
  • Welldeveloped communication interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Welldeveloped time management and organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
