Job Description
STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering Intern in Water Practice to join our Structural team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduatelevel candidates to work alongside our experienced team learn and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work fulltime.
Responsibilities:
Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards engineering formulas skills and experience.
Develop structural engineering plans design and layout.
Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in construction drawings by drafters.
Research design options.
Prepare load combination drawings and tables for structure manufacturers.
Review shop drawings.
Use computerassisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.
Attend and participate in project meetings.
Perform field activities such as observation of construction progress and existing field conditions.
Effectively communicate project progress and issues to the design team and maintain communication with the team members throughout the course of the project.
Capable of managing and performing multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
Calculate structure heights and weights concrete volumes equipment fitup or other basic tasks.
Support cost estimating with providing takeoffs and getting quotes.
Required:
Currently pursuing a bachelors degree or higher in Civil Engineering focused on structural engineering from an ABETaccredited university or NCEES equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Taken and passed reinforced concrete and/or steel design course.
Familiarity with production tools or modeling and design software.
Compensation Range:
