The Business Operations Director for HOM LA is responsible for overseeing business operations human resources functions and project management to support the success of the organization in the region. This role ensures operational efficiency strengthens human resources management and facilitates strategic initiatives. The Director acts as a key liaison between leadership staff and external stakeholders to drive performance compliance and workplace culture. Responsibilities include a combination of both strategic and tactical duties in planning project management human resources communications and overall business operations.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Operations and Administrative Leadership
- Oversee daily operational functions by ensuring efficiency compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor and manage service contracts including the and renewal of vendor agreements.
- Manage relationships with external service providers such as IT consultants and facilities management to ensure seamless operational support.
- Coordinate logistical and administrative support for office needs including equipment supplies establishment of services and space planning.
- Oversee data security and operational procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Develop and manage internal and external communications to ensure consistent timely and strategic messaging that supports organizational goals and stakeholder engagement.
Human Resources Management
- Serve as the primary Human Resources (HR) point of contact addressing HRrelated inquiries and providing guidance on policies and procedures.
- Lead recruitment onboarding and orientation processes in collaboration with hiring managers.
- Ensure HR compliance with all applicable state and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Manage the administration of employee benefits payroll processing and personnel file management.
- Support employee relations initiatives including performance management training and leadership development.
- Oversee the implementation and use of The Predictive Index tool for hiring team building and workforce development.
Strategic Support and Project Management
- Facilitate the of companywide strategic initiatives and regional operational improvements.
- Lead project management efforts ensuring timely and successful implementation of key initiatives.
- Assist in goal setting tracking and accountability for organizational objectives and key results (OKRs).
- Provide decision support by gathering analyzing and presenting data to leadership.
- Organize manage and facilitate meetings with the leadership teams.
- Support internal communications to enhance employee engagement workplace culture and alignment with organizational values.
Compliance and Policy Development
- Ensure adherence to company policies regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee workplace safety and risk management programs in accordance with local state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate compliancerelated reporting and audits as required by government agencies or funding sources.
Leadership and Supervision
- Model encourage and reinforce company culture and values.
- Engage train and develop employees using traditional and innovative teambuilding techniques.
- Ensure success through regularly held employeedriven onetoone meetings.
- Assist with professional development by guiding employees in obtaining professional certifications.
- Provide ongoing praise and constructive feedback as appropriate.
- Encourage team members to evaluate and make suggestions for program process or implementation improvements.
- Provide training mentorship and performance evaluations for operations related roles.
- Foster a culture of accountability and transparency within the organization.
- Collaborate with executives and senior leadership to support operational decision making across all departments.
- Promote communication and cooperation across departments to ensure operational processes align with organizational objectives.
- Disseminate information to teams in support of leadership vision.

- Must pass a background check with no findings that impact the ability to fulfill compliance and role responsibilities.
- This role will have access to sensitive data including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI) and must adhere to HOM Security and Privacy Policies.
- Team Member may use or disclose PII or PHI through the course of their financial duties listed above. All use and disclosure is subject to procedures outlined in Section 1.10 of the HOM Privacy Policies.
- Must demonstrate HOMs core competencies: Emotional Intelligence Expertise Ethics and Excellence.
- Willingness to perform other duties as needed or assigned.
- Valid California drivers license and uptodate automobile insurance.
- Must be able to travel locally as needed for events training and site visits.
- Ability to lift to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- An associate or bachelors degree in business administration human resources or a related field preferred.
- A masters degree in business administration or human resources management is a plus.
- Minimum of seven 7 years of experience in operations management human resources or business administration.
- Experience working in housing social services or nonprofit organizations is desirable.
