L3Harris is seeking an Antenna Design Engineer (Sr. Specialist) to design lead and manage technical aspects of single aperture and phased array antenna systems/projects across various lifecycle phases for our Surveillance and Strike (S&S) business unit within the Advanced Development Group. The antenna designer will be responsible for the design simulation development and testing of Antenna Systems for use in radar or other tactical military applications. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to present complex solutions to program leadership.
The Advanced Development Group specializes in developing disruptive nextgeneration technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV) advanced radar systems nextgeneration weapon systems and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Our team has StateoftheArt design tools including several 3D EM modeling design suites including CST Design Studio and ANSYS HFSS suite. In addition AWR Microwave Studio and Keysight CDS circuit/systems environments are also available.
Essential Functions:
- Design model and test RF circuits and/or antennas suitable for microwave radar applications in L C S X Ku and Ka bands
- Be responsible for the design analysis and test of antenna system performance phased array elements and feeds microstrip elements and feeds waveguide slot arrays multibeam antenna feeds and networks reflector antennas and feeds etc.
- Be responsible for the design analysis and test of RF circuit boards and subsystems
- Model installed performance of antenna systems including the radome and cosite interference
- Identify and work with qualified suppliers of RF components and subsystems
- Cost and Schedule responsibility at the component or board level
- Active security clearance required with ability to obtain higher level clearance if needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Active security clearance required
- 5 years of design and antenna modeling experience
- Professional experience working with antennas transmission line theory and RF circuit design
- Working knowledge and experience with3d EM field simulation tools (CST Microwave Studio HFSS or similar)
- Handson experience performing Sparameter measurements antenna pattern and gain measurements
PreferredAdditionalSkills:
- An understanding of common RF signal direction measurement concepts and methods
- Microwave Phased Array Design and Analysis experience
- Active RF component design
- Radar Systems Design experience
- Familiarity with other design and analysis software such as MatLab AWR and CDS
- Knowledge of practical RF system considerations such as path loss calculation cascade noise figure and intercept point
- Good Communication skills
- Able to work on a team to support overall program goals
- Familiarity with basic Radar performance concepts
