Job Summary:
Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Connect with clinical education to ensure unit meets skill competency and received professional development to ensure high quality care. Performs the primary functions of a Registered Nurse within a unit inclusive of assessing diagnosing planning implementing and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. Works with professionals who provide services with the intention of building capacity and maintaining quality of services.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coaches in assigned area in a collaborative model of observation demonstration and reflection to promote quality support and service through training and infield mentoring.
- Facilitates professional collaborative groups among professionals both locally and with communities of practice with a focus on capacity building.
- Provides direct onsite observation evaluation individual and/or group consultation and document review. Participates in multidisciplinary assessments and may participate in internal and external quality assurance activities.
- Works as a liaison to the clinical education department on behalf of surgical and/or procedural services. Supports the department with skills competency of team members and professional development.
- May perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure and preparing operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
- May perform circulating functions including monitoring recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before during and after procedure.
- Applies the existing body of evidencebased practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patients agespecific needs and clinical needs as described in the departments scope of service.
- As an SSM Health nurse I will demonstrate the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model. Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 025 lbs.
- Frequent sitting reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near 20 inches or less) and far 20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms malfunctioning machinery etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 2550 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending stooping kneeling squatting twisting gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
