Role of CMA in Dermatology

The Certified Medical Assistant at JHOC Dermatology clinic provides specialty care that includes procedures and responsibilities specific to our patient population. Duties include but are not limited to: preparation and cleanup of skin and nail biopsies tissue handling assisting in Dermatology surgery supply management and realtime documentation.

Outline of Role Progression

Certified Medical Assistant CMA entry level upon hire

Derm Tech Assistant DTA After introductory period 90 days) completion of Derm tech learning modules and attainment of Derm Tech certificate

Certified Derm Tech CDT

  • After one year of promotion to DTA
  • Nursing Resource Center (NRC) experience responding to provider messages both electronically and through telephone calls patient chart management
  • Demonstrate the ability to function in all three areas of the clinic:General Dermatology Dermatology Surgery and NRC (Nursing Resource Center)
  • Committee and project involvement

Hours:

Four 10hour shifts 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m. with Wednesdays off. Onehour lunch.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of anaccredited Medical Assistant training programrequired

Licensure/Certification/Experience:

  • Completion of CMA certification with the credentials ofRMA NCMA NRCMA CCMA or CMAArequiredprior to hire
  • ValidBLS CPRcertification required upon hire; JHH accepts AHA Red Cross and military training network
  • Ideal candidate will have at least 3years of clinical experience of which at least 1 year has been oncology experience (preferred)

Interview Process:

Phone screen inperson interview and share time (shadowing).

Salary Range: Minimum$18.15 per hour Maximum$27.65 per will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
