Position Description

The Research Officer will support Coadys growing number of global and national project partnerships in knowledge creation and dissemination. In particular the Research Officer will work closely with the Program Manager of the Saman Awaj program a multiyear initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada supporting partners in Bangladesh and Nepal. The Research Officer will support partners and Coady program staff in applying innovative participatory approaches to knowledge mobilization and translation stakeholder and community engagement communityled research and leadership for systems change. The Officer will work collaboratively with other members of the Coady team partners and stakeholders to build the capacity of our network partners and communities through the development and implementation of evidenceinformed tools resources and learning opportunities. This will include direct engagement as well as support in an advisory capacity. The Research Officer will support education programs and other project partnerships as needed looking for research synergies between them the Officer will remain current on emergent theories approaches and methodologies to best support this work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support knowledge mobilization and translation activities related to Coady projects and strategic priorities which may include designing writing and disseminating academic papers emergent best practice summaries toolkits resources infographics workshop/conference presentations quarterly activity reports funding proposals and other knowledge products.
  • Plan design and host collaborative learning spaces as needed to support knowledge generation and dissemination.
  • Conduct environmental scans and background literature reviews as needed.
  • Prepare and disseminate reports that articulate the experiences of partners and related thematic work.
  • Support Project Manager(s) and Program Teaching Staff in building the capacity of Saman Awaj partners and other stakeholders as well as other projects as required through the design and implementation of engagement research innovation and impact activities.
  • Evaluate and apply innovative approaches to knowledge translation and mobilization stakeholder and community engagement communityled research and leadership for systems change and remain current about emergent theories approaches and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree required in a relevant area.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in managing research projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative research methods as well as survey design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of conducting environmental scans.
  • Familiarity with and/or understanding of RPL/PLAR practices and issues in a variety of settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word. Powerpoint Excel Outlook Planner and Teams).
  • Strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
