What Youll Do
The Technical Security Sr. Associate is a resultsoriented team member tasked with protecting our nations assets by successfully performing Technical Security functions.
- Reviews all RF transmitters that come on the site to ensure Federal and site requirements
- Assures all RF transmitters are transmitting as specified per manufacturers spec.
- Understands test schedules and work assignments
- Initiates and prepares TEMPEST documentation such as TEMPEST checklist and Transmitter Review forms
- Maintains TEMPEST Plans for the facilities under site cognizance
- Assures TEMPEST countermeasures through physical inspections
- Provides advice and recommendations concerning the impact feasibility and cost of proposed security programs
- Provides guidance oversite and inspections for the installation of sensitive processing equipment and networks to ensure compliance with applicable federal requirements on National Security Systems.
- Responds to crises and special requests associated with programs of responsibility
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete NNSA and DOE prescribed TEMPEST and Spectrum Manager Training requirements. This includes additional technical specialty training as required.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment. Understands a workers right to stop work when they feel their own or others personal safety is jeopardized.
- Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal State DOE Corporate and Plant rules regulations and Plantwide operating policies and procedures
- DOE Order 426.2 requirements if applicable to position

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
- OR Masters degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent may be considered on an exceptional basis with 10 or more years of relevant experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
A graduate of a formal electronics or computerrelated curriculum with experience in electronics theory with radio frequency (RF) background including but not limited to fabrication maintenance design calibration and repair of RF devices is preferred. Experience in fiber optics electronic fabrication maintenance design calibration and repair is preferred.
- Successful candidates must be capable of performing all TEMPEST Controlled Articles and Spectrum Manager related work including working in small enclosed locations; climbing and working at heights; lifting and carrying loads of 50 lbs.; distinguishing between colors; maintaining vision (corrected or uncorrected) of at least 20/40; and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) over the audio frequency range with any loss not to exceed an average of 30dB with the loss at any one frequency not greater than 40dB.
- Extensive knowledge of safeguards and security policies investigative techniques electronic principles and construction standards and having a general working knowledge of DOE counterintelligence policy (Presidential Decision DirectiveNSC61 U.S. Department of Energy Counterintelligence Program dated February 1998 is helpful.
- Experience in electronics with extensive radio frequency (RF) or radio frequency analysis background including but not limited to fabrication maintenance design calibration and repair is preferred.
- Understanding of red/black separation requirements between radio frequency transmitters and classified and unclassified equipment and signal lines.
- This position requires proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets. Must be proficient in the use of electronic test equipment to include use maintenance and calibration.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligencescope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
