The InterCultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an awardwinning settlement agency that for more than fifty years has helped ensure that immigrants have a strong sense of belonging worth identity and are valued contributing members of the community. Together with our trusted community partners donors and volunteers ICA provides innovative solutions to the challenges faced by newcomers and services that range from mentoring immigrant entrepreneurs to clinical counselling supports ensuring that our community including immigrants thrive and prosper.
We are looking for a fulltime Gender Equity and Sexual Diversity Coordinator who acts as a bridge between ICA staff and clients by developing and facilitating trainings to improve staff capacity in supporting Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Queer plus (LGBTQ) clients women and (Gender Based Violence) GBV survivors. Oversee LGBTQ and GenderEquity and GenderBased Violence Programming. Develop and facilitate assetbased and responsive programming for women selfidentifying women individuals that identify as LGBTQ and individuals that have experienced genderbased violence.
As a networker and people person the coordinator will be an advocate for gender and sexual diversity antiviolence antioppression and strengthbased and traumainformed supports. Coordinator acts as cultural bridge to help connect program participants to LGBTQ community supports and resources such as programs materials or space from partner organizations. Skills in facilitation will result in engaging community initiatives on crosscultural diversity equity and inclusion awareness and lead to a more diverse and vibrant CRD community. Reports to the Manager of Arts Equity and Community Engagement.
What you will bring to the role:
Undergraduate degree diploma or certificate in community development community engagement or related professional courses on themes pertinent to diversity and inclusion antioppression genderequity group facilitation and community development.
Three years experience in community development/engagement related work within social services notforprofit and/or culturally diverse environment.
Equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.
Proven experience in equity work with a strengthbased and traumainformed approach.
Skilled in supporting communities with diverse sexual orientations gender identities expressions and sex characteristics.
Experience developing LGBTQ and genderbased programming within a multicultural setting.
Understanding program evaluation through an equity lens.
Proven ability to effectively navigate and utilize IT systems software and hardware to streamline workflows troubleshoot issues and enhance productivity backed by demonstrated experience or training.
Strong technical proficiency in leveraging workplace technology to improve efficiency collaborate with teams and adapt to emerging tools and methodologies to serve clients effectively and on time.
Essential skills:
o Internet research and navigation
o Demonstrable use of MS Office products including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint Teams SharePoint and any other productivity software that supports the automation of processes and workflows.
o Basic graphic design (create posters and social media posts)
o Social media management (understanding of Facebook Instagram LinkedIn Twitter)
o Basic project management and team communication tools (Google Drive MS Teams One Drive Zoom)
o Database management (iCare CRM OCMS CARMIS)
o Understanding of best practices of cybersecurity for data protection phishing prevention and secure system use.
o Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence technology cloud computing and cybersecurity (ChatGPT)
o Problem solving techniques
Data Analysis and Reporting:
o Experience in using tools like Excel (advanced functions pivot tables) CRM queries or Power BI to analyze data and generate reports.
o Automation & Workflow Optimization: Familiarity with macros scripting (e.g. VBA Python) or automation tools like Power Automate to improve efficiency.
Experience working with immigrants and/or refugees preferred.
Proficiency in a settlement and/or resettlement language preferred.
Experience developing delivering monitoring and evaluating community programs will be an asset.
Experience coordinating a program working with community stakeholders contractors and volunteers and diverse team members.
Superior administrative and public speaking skills.
Knowledge of community resources.
A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
Travel to community locations within Greater Victoria will be required. Occasional travel to locations in other parts of British Columbia and/or Canada for purposes like professional development networking or conferences may also be required.
Some work outside of regular office hours including evenings and weekends will be required. Flex time schedules will be made to accommodate nonregular work hours.
This position requires proof of WHMIS training and clear criminal record check (including vulnerable populations check).

Livedexperience as a queer/genderdiverse person is preferred.
Experience working with persons from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds is preferred.
A valid BC drivers license and access to a car would be an asset.
Indigenous cultural competencies or lived experience with Indigenous communities.

Compensation and hours: This position starts at $34.75 per hour working 35 hours per week and requires union membership.
