Those in managed service management and strategy at PwC will focus on transitioning and running services along with managing delivery teams programmes commercials performance and delivery risk. Job Summary:
The Manager Java is responsible for leading and managing Javabased application support operations while providing technical expertise in coding troubleshooting and architecture. This role ensures the stability reliability and performance of missioncritical Java applications while implementing best practices for incident management root cause analysis and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in Java development microservices architecture cloud platforms and DevOps with handson coding experience to assist in debugging resolving and optimizing applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Operations Management:
- Lead and manage Javabased application support operations ensuring high availability and performance.
- Oversee incident resolution problem management and root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues.
- Establish and monitor SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and KPIs to measure support efficiency.
- Define and improve support workflows escalation procedures and service recovery strategies.
- Work closely with development infrastructure and security teams to ensure seamless operations.
Technical Troubleshooting & Coding Support:
- Provide handson support for debugging and resolving complex Java application issues.
- Conduct code reviews performance tuning and optimization of Java applications.
- Assist the development team with bug fixes enhancements and production releases.
- Utilize logging monitoring and profiling tools (New Relic Splunk Dynatrace etc. to analyze system performance.
- Ensure adherence to secure coding practices API security and application hardening.
Architecture & System Optimization:
- Provide technical guidance on microservices architecture API design and system integration.
- Assist in defining scalable and faulttolerant application architectures.
- Identify opportunities for cloud migration containerization and DevOps automation.
- Drive architectural enhancements to improve application reliability and scalability.
Incident & Problem Management:
- Lead Major Incident Management (MIM) from applications standpoint and ensure quick resolution of highpriority incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement longterm fixes to prevent recurring issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to prioritize and implement permanent fixes.
- Automate monitoring alerting and selfhealing mechanisms for proactive issue resolution.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for business teams clients and senior leadership regarding application support.
- Work with thirdparty vendors and cloud service providers to troubleshoot external dependencies.
- Provide regular updates on system stability performance and improvement plans to stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
- Lead and mentor a team of support engineers developers and operations specialists.
- Implement best practices in ITIL DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for support operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the support team.
- Develop and maintain documentation playbooks and knowledge bases for issue resolution.
Technical Leadership & Governance:
- Provide technical leadership to development teams across multiple transformation projects.
- Establish and enforce coding standards design patterns and architectural best practices.
- Define nonfunctional requirements (NFRs) including security performance and scalability for transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align solutions with enterprisewide modernization strategies.
- Conduct technical reviews code audits and risk assessments to ensure quality and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science IT or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in Java application development and support with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Expertise in Java Spring Boot Hibernate RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Strong knowledge of incident management root cause analysis and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL MySQL MongoDB Cassandra etc..
- Handson experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and containerization (Docker Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins GitLab CI/CD Terraform Ansible etc. for automation.
- Experience in performance tuning memory management and debugging tools.
- Excellent problemsolving communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ITIL or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) certification.
- Experience with observability tools (Prometheus Grafana ELK Stack New Relic Datadog etc..
- Familiarity with message queues (Kafka RabbitMQ) and eventdriven architectures.
- Exposure to AIdriven monitoring and selfhealing automation.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance standards (SOC2 GDPR etc..
