The Financial Counselor is responsible for the counsel of all clinical research patients as part of the informed consent process to ensure that the patient fully comprehends what services will be billed to the sponsor versus billed to their insurance as well as any coinsurance copays deductibles or out of network costs that will be their responsibility.In addition this position is accountable for assisting research participants with questions regarding their bills. This counselor is expected to interact with insurance companies all service lines and members of healthcare teams contracting billing grants administration and research subjects/families in a manner which supports the conduct of clinical research.
Financial counseling will encompass all campuses in the network including but not limited to Jeanes Temple Hospitals & Clinics Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham and any future campuses or sites.
Education
Bachelors Degree : Accounting Health Administration Business or related (Required)
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
2 Years experience in Medical Claims Processing in a Healthcare or Insurance Environment (Required)
5 Years experience in a clerical role (Required)
1 Year experience in Clinical Research Coordination or Operations (Preferred)
1 Year experience interacting with patients regarding healthcare/insurance claims (Preferred)
1 year experience with bilingual English/Spanish language (Preferred)
