Description

The Injury Prevention Program is housed within the Division of Health Protection in the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH). Our mission is to prevent injuries by empowering state and local coalitions through the provision of data training and leadership and the leveraging of resources for prevention programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying innovative partnerships and strategic collaborations to encourage programs or policy reforms that align with priorities of GA DPH and Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). More particularly help with development and management of partnership information with a list of existing and potential injury prevention partners in selected communities
  • Assist with survey development and analysis of survey response for partner engagement activities
  • Assist in the planning implementation and evaluation of the suicide prevention projects
  • Create fact sheet or other data visualization using data provided
  • Attend various meetings with program managers and department heads
  • Communicate and present at meetings and other recognized avenues as appropriate
  • Develop educational materials and presentations based on identified needs
  • Participate in other meetings and events as needed
  • Support the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention team in conducting an environmental scan data entry and data analysis
  • Receive additional training as required to gain proficiency and experience in Injury Prevention topic areas
  • Assist with meeting facilitation partner followup program evaluation and data updates to support Comprehensive Suicide Prevention activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree candidate or PhD candidate in a related field (public health education social and/or behavioral health) from an accredited university OR
  • Bachelors degree in public health biostatistics epidemiology evaluation or related or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience in a related area
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings. A writing sample will be required during the application process
  • Ability to present findings to diverse partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to use various data sources conduct data analysis and interpret reports from commonly used data analysis programs
  • Ability to collect analyze and summarize information
  • Ability to support the data entry and data cleaning process
  • Experience with program evaluation
  • Ability to work remotely and independently

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.


The candidate selected for this position may be subject to preemployment drug screening and a criminal background check.
