Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Managerto lead our distributed systems team based inStellenbosch. This hybrid role 3 days per week in office) combinestechnical leadershipwithpeople management and process optimization focusing on our telecom software solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of 10 engineers fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Process Improvement: Oversee Agile and DevOps practices forJava and Kafkabased microservices.
- Technical Guidance: Provide highlevel input ontelecom protocols (PLMN/PSTN) and distributed system architecture(handson coding not required but beneficial).
- Stakeholder Management: Align engineering efforts with product and customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experiencein software engineering with adegree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Proven leadershipin managing software teams preferably intelecom or distributed systems.
- Strong process expertisein Agile CI/CD and software quality assurance.
- Technical familiaritywith Java/Kafka stacks (prior coding experience is a plus).
- Leadership qualities: Strategic empathetic and resultsdriven.
