Summary


King County Metro Transits Employee Services Division is seeking to hire one 1 HR Analyst position to join the Leave Services team. This position offers a hybrid work environment fantastic benefits and the opportunity to provide critical support for Metro Employees seeking protected leave. The HR Analyst is one of nine professional staff providing consultation and coordination in the areas of medical and protected leave services for Metro Transit which employs over 5000 staff. This position will serve as a subject matter expert within Metros Employee Services Division in the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and King County Family Medical Leave (KCFML). This position is critically important to the Metro Employees seeking assistance through medical leave processes and requires the HR Analyst to demonstrate strong collaboration skills and empathy on a regular basis.

Position Info:This recruitment will be used to fill one 1 Special Duty Assignment (SDA) vacancy for an HR Analyst classification within Metro Transits Employee Services Division that is expected to end as of 12/31/2025 and may be extended. In addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool list for future openings that may occur in this job type and classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool list will be retained for 12 months from creation and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

We are looking for candidates who have:


Highly competitive candidates will have (desired but not required):


  • Relevant certification(s) such as a Professional Human Resource designation (SPHR PHR SHRM SCP or SHRMCP) Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) or Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS).
  • Knowledge of protected leaves and employee benefits.
  • Experience working in the public sector and/or unionized environments.
  • Experience training management and staff regarding their responsibilities and legal obligations on issues such as federal state leave benefits medical absence and accommodation issues and disability discrimination or harassment.
  • Experience providing support for internal investigations and/or interpreting contractual language for consistent HR administration.

NecessarySpecial Requirements:

A valid Washington State drivers license or proof of mobility to travel around the County as required.

Work Schedule

This position is nonexempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a biweekly schedule every other Thursday. Work hours are comprised of a 40hour work week typically Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Variations may occur based on operational demands.

The work associated with this position is currently performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking onsite work and meetings. The role combines remote work from home with onsite reporting typically once per week. Reporting frequency may vary based on business needs.

Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
