Job Description

Our client is a serviceoriented wholesale tire distributor serving the Southeast since 1984. They strive to provide reliable and dependable service to their customers from their distribution centers in Columbia Greenville and Dillon SC. The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the companys distribution centers in Columbia Greenville and Dillon SC. This role involves ensuring efficient and reliable delivery service maintaining high standards of safety and quality managing costs and fostering a positive work culture. The Director of Operations reports directly to the President and plays a crucial role in strategic planning and to meet the companys goals.

Key Responsibilities

    • Safety Management: Conduct quarterly safety meetings and incorporate safety topics into daily huddle meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Quality Control: Review and update operational reports emphasizing quality in huddle meetings to minimize incorrect deliveries.
    • Cost Management: Set expectations with team leaders review staffing levels and manage overtime to stay within budget.
    • Service Delivery: Ensure customer requirements are met 98 of the time by reviewing daily operating reports and redeveloping the schedule board.
    • Fleet Maintenance: Develop and follow up on a fleet maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
    • Employee Retention: Create a strategic alignment environment use visual boards and discuss company goals to reduce annual turnover.
    • Labor Cost Management: Review operational reports and set expectations for labor costs including final approval for new hires.
    • Inventory Management: Address inventory variances daily and ensure they meet quarterly hard count standards.
    • Absenteeism Management: Set expectations through team leaders conduct huddle meetings and implement retention initiatives.
    • Sales Support: Work with sales leaders to identify and move ancillary items appropriately.
    • Office Supplies Management: Standardize the process for purchasing and managing office supplies to ensure availability.
    • Accounting and Reporting: Set up and modify reporting and collection systems based on best practices to ensure accuracy. Hold daily/weekly production meetings and set assignments to ensure KPIs are being met.
    • Budget Management: Develop and manage lineitem budget expenses by location to maintain financial control.
    • Infrastructure Management: Ensure IT and fleet infrastructure meets service and cost expectations.

Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Operations Management or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management preferably in the distribution or logistics industry.
    • Proven leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in operations management software and tools.
    • Commitment to safety quality and customer service.
