Job Description
- Start as soon as you are available early May preferred
- Part time 15 hours per week
- Mon Tue & Thu 9.30 am to 2.30 pm
- Paid time off over term breaks
- Work with the children and families from the South Yarra public housing community
- Experienced and qualified Early Childhood Educator needed who has gentleness and patience
- Language skill relevant to the community would be an advantage

South Yarra Pre School is situated on the ground floor of one of the 12 storey public housing towers on the Horace Petty Public Housing Estate in Malvern Road South Yarra.
Our kindergarten has a proud history of supporting and working in partnerships with families and our community to promote best outcomes. The kindergarten has a focus on strength based learning and in advocating for social justice. We have a diverse population of families and our language groups include Somali Oromo Vietnamese Arabic Amharic Cantonese Tigrinya Khmer Dinka and Neur.
We are looking for an educator for our integrated three and four year old indoor/outdoor program.
Our Educators support the philosophy of our centre are always calm considerate and empathetic in their approach in working with children and families. This is a unique opportunity to work as a team member with the kindergarten teacher in building strong and positive relationships with children families and the community within and around the public housing complex.
The ability to speak a community language would be highly valued. Somali Oromo Vietnamese Arabic Amharic Cantonese Tigrinya Khmer Dinka or Neur.

- Integrated age group 3 & 4 year old
- Mon Tue & Thu 15 hours per week 9.30 am to 2.30 pm
- Additional Educator (Cert III or Diploma) $24 to $27.96 per hour subject to experience including paid leave over term breaks
- This is a maximum term position until the end of 2025 due to relocation of the preschool. We will consult with you on opportunities for transfer to one of our other kindergartens or early learning centres in 2026

- Are you an experienced & qualified Educator
- Have you had extensive & recent experience working with 3 and 4 year old children including children with additional needs
- Do people describe you as nurturing gentle patient positive and energetic
- Experience working with complex grous and children with additional needs and trauma backgrounds would be an advantage
- Do you have language skills that would enrich your work Somali Oromo Vietnamese Arabic Amharic Cantonese Tigrinya Khmer Dinka or Neur. Preferred but not essential
- Are you seeking parttime work with time off over the term breaks
- Do you want to work in a kindergarten close to home
