The Lundquist College of Business is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus. Located 110 miles south of Portland the University of Oregon has an enrollment of over 25000. The Departments of Management and Marketing in the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon are seeking to fill faculty positions at the rank of Instructor Senior Instructor I Senior Instructor II or Professor of Practice. Employment begins September 16 2025. Employment is continuous and summer opportunities may be available.
Responsibilities for these positions in Marketing and Management include teaching either graduate or undergraduate level courses and participating in service activities for the department college or university. This position will involve teaching up to eight courses at either the graduate or undergraduate level.
For Management courses may cover general management and business administration with a preference for areas such as Sustainability Human Resources and Business Law. For Marketing courses may include introductory marketing marketing management marketing research entrepreneurial marketing marketing analytics sustainable marketing or consumer behavior. The course load may be adjusted based on additional duties as negotiated with the Department Head and Senior Associate Dean.
Service expectations include a 0.20 FTE commitment to activities such as participating in departmental college or university committees engaging with recognized professional organizations and serving as a club adviser. Professional development is also a key component with an emphasis on attending conferences and staying current in the field. Additionally the role involves undergraduate and graduate advising maintaining student contact and communication through office hours and advising on group projects.
To qualify for the rank of Instructor:
Masters degree in Business Accounting or Finance.
Ability to teach accounting or data analytics courses as demonstrated by prior teaching or work experience.
To qualify for the rank of Senior Instructor I:
Masters degree in Business Accounting or Finance.
Ability to teach accounting or data analytics courses as demonstrated by prior teaching or work experience.
Six years of teaching courses related to business post receipt of degree.
To qualify for the rank of Senior Instructor II:
Masters degree in Business Accounting or Finance.
Ability to teach accounting or data analytics courses as demonstrated by prior teaching or work experience.
Twelve years of teaching courses related to business post receipt of degree.
*Note: Additional teaching experience does not guarantee appointment at to a senior rank.
To qualify for a Professor of Practice candidates must also demonstrate they:
have a substantial basis of experience equal to a tenured professor (normally a minimum of 12 years) and a national/international reputation for excellence reflected in a record of significant accomplishments;
have a profile of accumulated professional accomplishments fully congruent with the rank of professor;
have a rich and extensive background in a field and discipline relevant to the school college or unit of appointment at the University of Oregon; and
can serve as a liaison between the professional field and the University of Oregon.
Ability to analyze complex information and communicate effectively.
Ability to work effectively with students faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Candidates must demonstrate interest experience and/or ability to promote cultural competency.
Experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level.
