Data Science Intern

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking to hire a full time Summer 2025 Data Science Intern based in our Center City Philadelphia office! This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days of work each week in the city with 2 days per week from home.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Summary:

This Intern role will satisfy this commitment by bridging various departments business needs and insights with data. Reporting through the Data Science and Automation teams Were seeking a motivated Data Science Intern to support critical analytics and infrastructure initiatives. This role will help build a comprehensive catalog of our applications databases and scripts as well as develop automated data quality checks to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities:

Systems & Application Cataloging:
Develop a centralized repository to document all internal applications databases and automation scripts.
Catalog critical information including ownership purpose connections between systems frequency of use and data freshness.
Identify and map relationships across systems to support upgrades migrations and cleanups.
Notify the team of any undocumented databases or processes that are discovered as part of this work.
Assist with building a lightweight web interface or dashboard for ongoing catalog access and maintenance.

Data Quality Monitoring:
Enhance existing QA processes by designing and implementing automated alerts for anomalies (e.g. duplication gaps in data).
Analyze historical data quality issues and develop scripts to detect common patterns (e.g. duplicate records irregular processing).
Collaborate with team members to define thresholds and business rules for data integrity.

Essential Duties:

1. Create centralized source for end user documentation
2. Alleviate data maintenance binder / table maintenance clean up in existing applications
3. Measuring cause and effect through various performance improvement initiatives
4. Cross departmental communication.
5. Project management

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science Computer Science Information Systems or related field.
• Skills:Ability to gather interpret and analyze complex data; strong oral and written communications skills including presentation skills; strong collaboration and relationship building skills; ability to manage crossfunctional projects as demonstrated by previous experience coordinating deadlines and deliverables with multiple stakeholders; advanced MS Office skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education:Health Informatics Business Economics Computer Science Engineering or similar degree
• Skills:Knowledge of relational database skills must demonstrate proficiency with SQL Tableau (or similar BI platform) and Microsoft Office. Demonstrates knowledge of advanced statistical concepts.
