Job Description

Job Summary

Working independently under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Provost for International Programs this position performs administrative duties for the primary units of the International Center: International Student and Scholar services Study Abroad and the administrative unit. This position is the lead in coordinating the drafting and finalizing memoranda of understanding exchange agreements thirdparty provider agreements and other contracts for the International Center and campus at large and liaises with overseas partners faculty exchange coordinators campus legal counsel and contracting and risk management. Additionally this position is responsible for providing administrative coordination and support for the Cal Poly International Center including work with the International Programs Committee the International Advisory Council and other committees. Work activities include facilitating and maintaining faculty and staff proposal processes for international programs and agreements serving as a point person for planning and implementing International Center events supporting International Visitors Global Programs and the International Travel Registration process and/or other administrative areas. The position also serves as back up for the processing and tracking student eligibility requirements for study abroad as well as in serving as a campus Designated School Official (DSO) with the Department of Homeland Security and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) with the Department of State. In this role the position has responsibility for the creation and maintenance of international exchange student and scholar records in SEVIS (Student Exchange and Visitor Program) Terra Dotta and PeopleSoft.

Department Summary

The primary mission of the Cal Poly International Center is to provide leadership and coordination for international activities and programs and to serve as a catalyst for internationalization efforts at Cal Poly. The IC maintains administrative authority and universitywide oversight of international engagement and initiatives supported by the campus. We are committed to providing equity and access to services and programs for the populations we serve including for students studying abroad and international students and scholars at Cal Poly. We provide support to campus efforts in internationalizing the curriculum and in creating global partnerships.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills including a high level of diplomacy and to analyze and troubleshoot issues using sound judgement and discretion when acting where precedence does not exist.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and outcomes providing clear direction and delegation as needed.
  • Clearly communicates roles expectations and timelines in order to ensure goals and deadlines are consistently met with quality standards.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or its equivalent. Type 45 wpm. Five years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or fulltime college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience).

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range:$50962 $66534 Per Year

Classification Range:$48696 $79836 Per Year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position based on internal equity budget and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
