Key Responsibilities:
  • Support with RCT Implementation 60:
    • Assist in the preparation and organization of study materials including training guides and assessments for student participants.
    • Help coordinate communication with study participants across the University of Kansas University of Florida and University of Notre Dame.
    • Track participant progress and organize data collected through proctoring tools and assessments.
    • Assist in data entry coding and preliminary analysis of essay submissions using qualitative methods.
  • Policy Review and Analysis 30:
    • Support the collection and organization of AIrelated policies from selected higher education institutions.
    • Conduct initial reviews of institutional documents to identify relevant sections related to AI ethics usage research and teaching.
    • Assist with coding and categorizing policy data for comparative document analysis.
    • Help summarize findings and emerging themes from policy documents.
  • Administrative & Research Support 10:
    • Maintain organized documentation for study procedures and data.
    • Attend regular research team meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.
    • Assist with preparing presentations reports or manuscripts related to the study.

Work Schedule
This is a parttime position requiring approximately 5 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and can be adapted to accommodate the students academic commitments. Work will be conducted in a hybrid format with a combination of inperson tasks on the University of Kansas Lawrence campus and remote work.

Oncampus hours 12 hours/week) may include attending research team meetings supporting coordination with KUbased participants and accessing university resources.

Remote hours 34 hours/week) will involve independent tasks such as reviewing documents organizing data and contributing to analysis or report preparation.

  1. Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Kansas.
  2. Interest in educational research community health or related fields.
  3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as shown in applicaion materials.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as shown in application materials.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a research team as shown in application materials.
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.


  1. Prior research or administrative experience (including coursework) is preferred but not required.


Position Overview
The research team is seeking a motivated and detailoriented undergraduate student to assist with a multiinstitutional research study exploring the role of AI in higher education. This study will utilize a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the impact of ChatGPT 4.0 on student learning and social responsibility and conduct a comparative document analysis of AIspecific policies from top U.S. universities. The student research assistant will contribute to both the implementation of the RCT and the qualitative review of institutional policies.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1 have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2 be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3 be enrolled in summer session or 4 be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
1 Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

2 This is an hourly/nonexempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/nonexempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
