Job Description

Bookkeeper and Office Administrator Karkloof
Our respected client in the farming industry seeks a detailoriented Bookkeeper and Office Administrator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills and an interest in agriculture.


Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping
  • Manage bookkeeping on Pastel accounting
  • Prepare debtors creditors bank statements cashbook and asset register up to trial balance
  • Verify creditor invoices against delivery notes and order numbers; prepare documents for manager coding
  • Update cashbook weekly
  • Submit monthly VAT returns and necessary audit documents to SARS
  • Handle banking tasks including loading creditor payments and verifying bank details
  • Access bank statements regularly
Monthend and Yearend
  • Reconcile and prepare creditor accounts addressing queries
  • Manage debtor accounts follow up on payments and issue invoices/statements
  • Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger monthly
  • Calculate and align monthly depreciation with the fixed asset register
  • Update VAF schedules and process monthly interest and capital amounts
  • Prepare and distribute management accounts
  • Provide an asset register to auditors that aligns with the general ledger
  • Collate yearend stock livestock numbers and tax certificates
Admin
  • Manage filing archiving and organisation of records and documentation
  • Oversee vehicle licences and maintain labour records
  • Handle statutory submissions and insurance claims
  • Maintain a daybook for daily activities and actions
  • Process credit applications for new creditor facilities
  • Assist directors with queries and requests

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and adaptability to new systems and tools
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel experience is nonnegotiable)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Degree or diploma in accounting is preferential
  • Problem solving ability with proactive issue resolution
  • Multitasking and flexibility in managing tasks and adapting to changing priorities
