Position Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing implementing maintaining and overseeing global environmental health and safety programs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The EHS Manager will lead global initiatives to reduce workplace hazards improve employee safety and minimize the environmental impact of the companys operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management:
- Develop implement and maintain comprehensive Global EHS policies procedures and programs.
- Continuously assess and improve existing Global EHS programs and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Design and deliver EHS training programs for all employees ensuring ongoing education and required certifications are maintained.
- Manage the procurement inventory distribution and utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure all employees have the necessary tools to perform their jobs safely. Conduct training sessions on the proper use care and maintenance of PPE.
Risk assessment and mitigation:
- Conduct regular audits inspections and risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential hazards develop strategies to mitigate risks and implement corrective actions and controls to address identified risks.
- Oversee the incident reporting process ensuring that all incidents nearmisses and safety concerns are promptly reported investigated documented and addressed to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding workers compensation claims and related inquiries.
- Coordinate and manage workers compensation claims working closely with HR and insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate processing. Maintain detailed records of all workers compensation claims and related documentation.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Lead internal communications globally regarding performance in Safety Health and Environmental areas outlining plans for improvement.
- Promote health and safety in the workplace through proactive initiatives and clear communication including coordinating emergency response plans and conducting regular drills.
- Lead and participate in cross functional teams to drive EHS projects and initiatives ensuring EHS considerations are integrated into business processes.
- Lead Safety initiatives such as safety committee meetings regular safety walks of the shop and lab monthly safety muster meetings etc.
- Communicate EHS goals progress and challenges to senior management.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed of industry trends best practices and emerging regulations.
- Ensure global compliance with local state and federal environmental health and safety regulations including OSHA standards.
- Prepare and maintain required EHS permits and submit required EHS reports etc. to regulatory agencies.
- Maintain records of training sessions and ensure all employees are up to date with required certifications and training.
- Maintain comprehensive records of occupational injuries illnesses and incidents. Preparing and submitting necessary reporting.
- Oversee waste disposal recycling and hazardous materials program ensuring proper handling and storage of chemicals and other hazardous substances.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies manage inspections audits and permitting processes.
- Develop and implement policies that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment.
- Must be available for occasional domestic and international travel.
- Indepth knowledge of local state and federal EHS regulations standards best practices and reporting requirements.
