Care Assistant

Fixed Term Contract initially for 3 months

GradeConsultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Location of posts:

  • Residential and Enhanced Assessment units at Kenrick Care Centre in Harborne

Residential Units at each centre consists of 32 beds and they provide services to citizens who need longterm care and support. These units provide personal care and bespoke meaningful activities for the residents. All the festive seasons are also celebrated and enjoyed with our citizens and their families and friends.

In Kenrick residents enjoy the beautiful gardens and water features surrounding the centres. The Enhanced Assessment (EAB) unit at Kenrick accommodates citizens who are medically fit but need on going rehabilitation before they can move back to their own homes from hospitals.

The rehabilitation programmes at EAB are supported by care assistants under supervision of senior care staff and therapists.

This 32 bedded service has a high turnover of referral which are from all the hospitals in the city. The length of stay at Kenrick EAB is short term. The EAB team consists of Care Staff Occupational Therapists Physio Therapists Social Workers and district nurses who work in a fast pace in order to support the hospital discharges.

The main role and responsibilities of a care assistant both in residential and EAB units is to work closely with colleagues residents and their families in order to ensure citizens are safe happy and healthy. The dignity privacy emotional and psychological needs of our residents are at high importance to us and as the care assistant you are expected to ensure these elements are achieved successfully.

Due to the nature of this job staff are required to work on a rota which includes late and early shifts and weekends and bank holidays

Government legislation requires anyoneentering working or volunteeringin a Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care must have had a complete course of an authorised COVID19 vaccine and be able to provide proof unless they have a medical exemption or they are under the age of will be required to provide proof of COVID19 vaccination status or medical exemption to the recruiting manager as part of the interview process and if you are the successful candidate as part of preemployment checks.
