Job Description Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the broad area of dynamics vibrations and controls. The appointment would be effective as early as August 2019. We seek applicants with research and teaching interests related to dynamics vibrations and controls. Preferred candidates will have a balanced mix of the following areas: nonlinear dynamics control of mechanical systems and dynamics and mechanics of emerging applications. Candidates with industrial experience are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that includes fundamental and/or applied research. The candidate should be able to teach and develop courses in the areas of dynamics vibrations and controls at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required with a recent record of or strong potential for external funding and successful teaching abilities in related courses. The university has over 20000 students and is located at the intellectual center of the global automotive industry. The surrounding area offers many social cultural and recreational activities. Minimum Qualifications
