  • Level B $119231 $141581 per annum plus 17 super
  • Level C $146050 $168403 per annumplus 17 super
  • Level D $175858 $193740 per annumplus 17 super

Level of appointment is subject to qualification and experience

Your next career opportunity
As the Assistant Dean Indigenous (Research and Partnerships) you will play a key leadership role in advancing the Faculty of Sciences Indigenous strategic research agenda. This position is responsible for driving and supporting initiatives within the Indigenous Development and Engagement portfolio with a focus on research and partnerships. In addition to your leadership responsibilities you will conduct your own research program aligned with the Facultys disciplines and contribute actively to undergraduate and graduate teaching. This includes delivering lectures practicals and fieldwork as well as developing innovative curriculum and highquality teaching materials including the use of multimedia.

Your responsibilities will include:

IndigenousResearch and Partnerships

  • The Assistant Dean Indigenous (Research and Partnerships) will contribute to the Indigenous Strategic Plan and attend the Faculty Indigenous Engagement and Development Gathering.
  • Participate in University of Melbourne and Faculty of Science forums as required including representing the ADI in their absence.
  • Support the Associate Dean Indigenous Assistant Dean Indigenous (Education) and the Indigenous Development Manager to implement programs of work on policy and priorities as they relate to the interlinked domains of research and partnerships and work with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal community groups.
  • Support the delivery of the Indigenous Strategic Plan particularly in respect to working in partnership with those who have Indigenous knowledge and ensure the collaborative inclusion of Indigenous knowledges and perspectives into the faculty community to improve scientific practices in research activities.
  • Work with the Associate Dean (Research) Heads of School and Research Centre/Hub Directors/Leaders to increase the quality and quantity of Indigenous research and to foster and coordinate collaborations both internally and externally.

Education andResearch

  • Conduct a program of research that contributes to a discipline relevant to the Faculty of Science.
  • Publish research findings in international refereed journals and present results at seminars conferences and meetings.
  • Actively participate in the Schools undergraduate and graduate teaching programs including the preparation and delivery of lectures practicals and field work programs.
  • Actively contribute to the development and review of curriculum along with familiarisation with the role of multimedia in relation to the curriculum and develop high quality innovative subject material.

You may be a great fit if:
You are an accomplished researcher with a PhD in anarea relevant to the Faculty of Science or a related discipline possessing a deep understanding of Indigenous knowledges and protocols coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You may also:

  • Have a strong track record of highquality publications in leading international journals.
  • Have an understanding of Indigenous knowledges.
  • Knowledge of the issues and barriers facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in higher education and the workforce
  • Have a view of research capabilities and areas within the Faculty and more broadly across UoM.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses effectively.
  • Have a proven capacity to establish and maintain national and international research collaborations.
