Are you safetyconscious detailoriented and ready to work in an active outdoor environment Join the EssexWindsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) as an Inspector Regional Landfill and be on the front line of waste inspection site safety and regulatory compliance. You will inspect incoming loads of waste and recyclables coordinate closely with heavy equipment operators and the Scale Clerk manage the Hazardous and Special Products Depot (HSP) and ensure adherence to Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) regulations. Your efforts will help keep our operations efficient compliant and safe for both the public and staff.

The EssexWindsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is the governmental agency charged with the responsibility of providing an economical and environmentally conscious integrated solid waste management system for the County of Essex (County) and the City of Windsor (City). The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid nonhazardous waste generated in the County and the City in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include but are not necessarily limited to reduction reuse recycling composting and landfilling.
What Youll Do
In this role you will be responsible for:
1.Waste Inspection & Compliance
Inspect incoming loads of commercial and municipal solid waste yard waste and recyclable materials to ensure proper disposal or handling in accordance with EWSWA policies
Complete Daily Waste Inspection Reports documenting traffic weather handling methods and identification of noncompliant materials
Communicate with haulers and the public regarding MECP and EWSWA policies and escalate noncompliance issues to management
2. Landfill Operations Support
Coordinate and direct traffic flow for both commercial haulers and the public ensuring safety in collaboration with heavy equipment operators and the Scale Clerk
Maintain the Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Depot to ensure cleanliness and organization
Implement bird control measures including the use of pyrotechnics as needed
3. Other Duties as Assigned
Provide relief coverage for the Scale Clerk and assist with other support duties as required
Perform other tasks necessary to maintain safe compliant landfill operations
What You Bring
Education and Commitment to Growth:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or recognized
Experience abd Expertise:
A minimum of 3 months of related experience in waste management landfill operations or environmental services is preferred
Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with the public and haulers
Detailoriented with the ability to assess and report waste materials accurately
Physically capable of working in all weather conditions and dirty odoriferous and potentially hazardous environments
Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Ontario drivers license and have access to a personal vehicle for workrelated travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex
Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified)
Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document
