Job Description

Job Summary

As a key member of the VicePresident Community Engagements leadership team the Associate Director Relationship and Fund Development ensures the smooth daily operation of the department. They coordinate and implement fundraising programs such as annual and legacy giving major gifts and planned giving campaigns and oversee general operations and donor engagement. The Associate Director fosters relationships with donors alumni and community partners to enhance philanthropic support for and with the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and represents the University on request at community networking and business events and on volunteer boards and committees to build the Universitys profile and to identify and cultivate donors and prospects.

The Associate Director works closely with the Director team members and institutional stakeholders to align fundraising activities with UFVs strategic priorities which include student awards education programs capital projects and research initiatives and as aligned with the universitys mission and vision.

Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. business communications public relations or a related discipline) from a recognized postsecondary institution.

  • Minimum of five 5 years of experience in fundraising including a minimum of three 3 years of supervisory experience preferably within a postsecondary or nonprofit environment.

  • Demonstrated success in securing philanthropic support managing donor relationships and coordinating fundraising programs.

  • Proven leadership project management and administrative capabilities including hiring performance evaluations and disciplinary decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Excellent administrative and operational skills including budget development monitoring and reconciliation.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to create compelling donorfocused materials.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills in order to deal effectively with complex tasks and issues.

  • Exceptional communication skills and diplomacy; ability to inspire and lead teams.

  • Excellent timemanagement skills and the ability to work under pressure independently and as a team player.

  • Advanced experience tracking donor lifecycle management in a CRM preferably Raisers Edge/NXT.

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office required.

  • Understanding human resource management practices and supervisory experience are required.

  • Certified FundRaising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset.

  • Knowledge of and experience working in the Fraser Valley an asset.

  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and accommodate daily and weekly events including evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the demands of the role.
