The Montana Department of Revenue administers over 40 state taxes property appraisals liquor and laws and unclaimed property for the state of Cannabis Control Division is responsible for the licensing regulating and enforcement of the laws of Montana.
The Cannabis Control Division administers the states Codes which governs the cultivation manufacturing and sale of cannabis products. The division provides customer service with a focus on public safety to ensure a safe orderly and regulated system for safe and responsible consumption of products. The Cannabis Control Division includes the Administrative Team Licensing Unit and the Inspection/Compliance Unit. The Administrative Team oversees the daily management of the division. This group of staff consists of the administrator deputy administrator management officer management analysts and division support staff.

DUTIES
Job Overview:
This position resides in the Cannabis Control Division of Department of Revenue. Duties include being responsible for regulatory oversight education and providing compliance services to licensees of the Cannabis Control Division. Primary duties include conducting inspections generating and interpreting complex data points investigations providing technical assistance sampling and responding to complaints and statutory violations. This position receives general direction from the Inspector Supervisor however typically works independently in diverse and challenging work environments inspecting medical and adult use premises to assure compliance with State statutes administrative rules and local jurisdictional requirements. The position does not supervise other staff.
Knowledge of:
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to read interpret and apply statutes administrative rules and regulations related to licensing.
- Experience conducting inspections of dispensaries cultivation sites extraction facilities quality assurance testing laboratories and infused products production is preferred but not required with a particular emphasis on public health and safety.
- Evidence collection procedures.
- General compliance standards and regulations.
- Researching generating and interpreting complex data.
- Proficient in excel spreadsheets and other professional software applications to support data management and workflow efficiency.
- Working knowledge of or familiarity with software systems used to track cannabis product from seed to sale.

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisors approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.
Training Assignment:This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The minimum level neededon the first day of work is
- Bachelors degree in business administration public administration criminal justice Psychology Political Science Education or a closely related field of study.
- Two years of jobrelated work experience that includes any type of code enforcementlaw enforcement city/county code enforcement Inspector/investigatorhealth dept fire building inspector appraiser Public Safety Public Relations Public Service Social services Education.
- Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
