The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for Accounting Technician 1 located in Nome!

What you will be doing:
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is recruiting for a fulltime Accounting Technician 1 to provide administrative support to the Wildlife Conservation Division located in Nome. Under general supervision of the Fish and Game Coordinator and working with the Administrative Officer this position is responsible for providing accurate comprehensive technical and specialized examination and verification of accounting and fiscal data credit card reconciliation and payroll support property management and other administrative support functions. Wildlife Conservation is funded by project specific grants from federal agencies.

The incumbent is responsible for day to day operations in the areas of accounting payroll travel complex spreadsheet development and maintenance for the Region 5 Wildlife staff located in Northwest Alaska. The incumbent responds to payroll questions procurement and standard administration questions from regional staff.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in the Nome ADF&G office. Daily work involves One Card and Invoice processing personnel/hiring paperwork and assisting division employees with purchasing and travel questions and completing procurement documents. The individual selected will be joining a team of administrative professionals who support each other in their positions.

Who we are looking for
:
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word Outlook Excel Adobe) and IRIS FIN/HRM.
  • Excellent organizational skills particularly of information stored electronically.
  • Demonstrated communication skills both written and oral.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to multitask and respond to routine duties as well as a wide range of special requests meeting deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience 3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
