Position Summary:

CoreMark is seeking an experienced and innovative Transaction Tax Manager to join our team. The CoreMark tax department is a team of highly skilled tax professional committed to personal professional and organizational growth. We operate in a fastpaced growthoriented business environment.

Reporting to the Director Tax Operations the TransactionTax Manager will manage a team and will be responsible for all aspects of Canadian and US transaction tax compliance. You will participate in tax research tax compliance tax audits process improvements and other department projects as assigned.

Work Location and Travel: This is a fulltime position based in Denver CO with option for hybrid work upon completion of requisite training. This position will require 50 travel to Canada and US locations.

Compensation: $annually bonus potential!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely preparation and filing of US and Canadian sales and excise tax returns

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving tax compliance working papers and account reconciliations

  • Engage mentor and train the team by building trust providing guidance support and professional development opportunities

  • Provide tax expertise and audit support to CoreMarks US and Canadian warehouse personnel

  • Identify and mitigate tax risks

  • Conduct tax research as required and prepare technical memoranda where appropriate

  • Monitor federal and state legislative developments and perform analyses to evaluate the impact to CoreMarks operations

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with warehouse and corporate personnel

  • Effectively communicate with internal staff taxing authorities and outside service providers on tax compliance matters

  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvement data management opportunities and other efficiencies

  • Assist with the review and approval of US property tax returns

  • Participate in Tax Department projects as assigned

  • Potential for travel within Canada and US

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree with emphasis in Accounting Finance or Tax
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax department handling high volume indirect tax compliance
Proven work experience leading a team as a Tax Manager or Tax Team Lead
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
Ability to travel 50 to US and Canada locations maintaining an active passport

Preferred Qualifications
Master Degree in Taxation
Experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) Alteryx and an aptitude to learn new software
Accounting Designation CPA (US or Canada)
Excise Tax experience is a plus
