Position Summary
Villanova Universitys Civil and Environmental Engineering Department seeks applications for a continuing non tenure track research faculty position. The Department is looking for a geotechnical / water resources engineering faculty member that will work with and extend the research of the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems. Expertise in areas complementary to the existing faculty is sought and can include: geotechnical and water resources aspects of urban stormwater erosion and sediment transport uncertainty in water resources applications including climate change adaptation; open channel and surface water systems and infrastructure; watershed health; groundwater protection; hydraulic barriers; and water resources planning and management. Duties And Responsibilities
The individual will aid in research activities related to the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems VCRWS research. The individual will be responsible for project and management. They will oversee data analysis and present research findings in written reports and oral presentations to funder project partners and the scientific and broader community. They will also prepare manuscripts for submission to referred journals using existing and new data sets. This research faculty member will pursue research funding and write proposals as well as participate as a member of PhD and masters thesis advisory committees. All candidates must be willing to work closely with center faculty as well as with undergraduate and graduate students. The individual will serve as a Manager / Coordinator of the Departmental Geotechnical Research facilities to include: laboratory safety policies inventories equipment use scheduling research quality control trainings and provide general guidance to student users of the laboratory facilitates.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely aligned discipline is required (must be completed at the time of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
An ideal candidate has field and laboratory research experience; work experience in the consulting field is a plus.
