Summary


Public Health I Seattle & King County islooking for someone to join our dynamic team to serve as Health Care for the Homeless (HCHN) Administrative and Board Support Lead (Administrator I) Special Duty Assignment (SDA). Health Care for the Homeless is a longstanding and wellrespected program of public health working to provide critically needed health services to our most vulnerable neighbors those experiencing homelessness across King County. The Administrative and Board Support Lead is an important central position on the team helping to ensure program operations run smoothly so that our teams and contractors can focus on providing services. This position regularly collaborates with our robust and active Governance Council to support their work with a particular focus on assisting members who have lived or are living with the experience of homelessness.


The position is responsible for specific administrative services operations & finance duties and process improvement. The position also provides key participation support to members of our board the Governance Council with lived/living experience of homelessness. The work is performed on an independent basis within established guidelines and procedures and may be asked to handle sensitive and/or dynamic situations. This position requires independent problemsolving skills and strong communication skills to work with a diverse group of staff contractors providers stakeholders and community members. The most competitive candidates will possess knowledge of the health housing and human service systems for persons experiencing homelessness in King County and have experience working with local governments and nonprofit organizations in the health human service and/or housing sectors.

This SDA is currently anticipated to last through December 2026. However funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.

This vacancy is being filled as a Special Duty opportunity and is only open to current King County eligible employees. For Special Duty Assignment interest you must be a Career Service Career Service Exempt or other regular (nontemporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment.

The normal work week is Monday through Friday 8 am 5 pm with some need to work outside those hours. The position is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. The position will alternate between onsite and remote work each accounting for half of the time with the arrangement subject to change.


Work Location

Chinook Building 401 5th Avenue Seattle WA 98104 and other Public Health or contractor locations as needed.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Some of the work associated with this position will be performed through teleworking and will report to office location and to meetings as needed. Travel to other work locations may be necessary. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.

The most competitive applicants will have the following experiences and qualifications (Desired):
  • Experience working with King Countys Oracle EBS Financial System.
  • Experience with purchasing and handling petty cash.
  • Knowledge of public health practices and terminology.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Teams and/or SharePoint platforms.
  • Experience using principles of deescalation and traumainformed and harm reduction practices especially in working with people with experience of homelessness.
  • Experience working with homeless service agencies or programs.
