Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Middle Market Underwriter. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of underwriting principles. The Middle Market Underwriter will play a crucial role in evaluating and assessing risks associated with middlemarket insurance policies ensuring profitability and compliance with company guidelines.

Salary

  • $140000 to $180000/year total compensation(based on experience)

Job Description

  • Underwrite new and renewal middle market commercial accounts across assigned lines of business (Property Casualty Package etc..
  • Analyze risk characteristics and determine acceptability pricing and coverage options.
  • Collaborate with brokers and agents to negotiate terms build relationships and develop profitable business opportunities.
  • Maintain a profitable book of business in accordance with company guidelines and underwriting authority.
  • Identify crosssell and account rounding opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters or underwriting assistants as needed.
  • Monitor industry trends and contribute to underwriting strategy and product development.
  • Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines regulations and file documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 35 years of commercial underwriting experience with a focus on middle market risks.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles coverage forms rating methodologies and market dynamics.
  • Experience with broker distribution in the regional or national market.
  • Excellent analytical negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a highvolume workflow while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU AU or ARM are a plus.
