Role Summary:
The Service Center Engineer provides engineering and technical assistance to QRC (Quick Response Center) personnel CommercialOperations Sales Engineers and customers to develop the best possible repair and/or upgrade solutions to aftermarket jobs within theboundaries of responsibility per the applicable for providing technical interpretation ofspecifications procedures policies quality and equipment reliability to concerned parties.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews DCI reports Customer Specifications/instructions and develops high level scope of work for QRC jobs when required.
- Implements engineering best practices and Flowserve standards such as weld procedures bolt torque materials hydro test etc.
- Identify upgrade opportunities and support the generation of technical proposals to support such upgrades.
- Liaise/collaborate with Engineering Services/Project Engineering when nongeneric upgrades/solutions would be opportune/required.
- Support technical and commercial justification analysis.
- Act as engineering liaison for Project Engineering during order fulfilment phase.
- Accountable for documenting and communicating design changes initiated by the QRC per the applicable procedures andsystems.
- Accountable for reviewing and noting/documenting customers or 3rd party changes per the applicable procedures andsystems.
- First technical contact for witnesses; review specifications & requirements for visit.
- Responsible for failure analysis reports of specific jobs when required.
- Support sales to present FLS technical capabiliities to Customers.
- Supports the QRC concerning all engineering issues including but not limited to NCR disposition supporting machinists and supporting shop mechanics during assembly.
- Provide sketches to facilitate quick repairs.
- Mentors Staff QRC Engineers and Cost Estimators (Planners).
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Mining Electrical Chemical or related).
- 25 years related experience required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules engineering drawings operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Ability to write routine and technical correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced geometry trigonometry modern algebra and advanced statisticaltheory.
- Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
